STUDENT MOBILITY - ERASMUS PROGRAMM
Welcome to IRTS de Lorraine Nancy
You are going to come and study in Nancy – at the Regional Institute of Social Work, within the framework of Erasmus programme. This exchange is possible because of your home university or school and our institute are engaged in a partnership and signed the European Erasmus Charter.
Prior to your arrival, check every condition to take part to the mobility and be up to date with the various necessary documents.
IRTS de Lorraine is happy to welcome you.
To help you to prepare your stay, here are some practical information concerning accommodation, transport and catering.
You’ll need at least 450,- € /month for living.
Accommodation
Erasmus students can get accommodation in a hall of residence (Room from 121,60 €/month)
You must apply on line and then send your application form to the C.R.O.U.S .
*Applying process :
- Connect to Crous-Nancy-Metz. Click on “accueil international” to get general information : to apply for a room.
First semester: You have to apply between 15/01 & 30/04 before your arrival. For the new candidates, there’s a possibility to create a file until 30 sept..
Second semester: If you haven’t applied in time, call our secretary ; she will do her best to put you in touch with the good person.
Several rooms are available for Erasmus students. The nearest residences from the institute are “La Batelière”, “Boudonville” et “Montbois” (campus Nancy II).
Insurance
In France, insurance on accommodation is compulsory. You’ll need a certificate called “multirisques habitation”.
Check with your insurance company to get one in your country and take the certificate with you. Or it will be possible to take one in France. There are specialized insurances for the students, here are the main sites :

Housing benefit
After your arrival, regarding to your resources, you may apply for housing benefit to the “Caisse d’Allocations Familiales”. CAF is a private institution with a public service mission. It pays out the statutory family allowances and delivers social services for families.
Connect to the web site and enter your application as soon as you’ve got your room.
Don’t forget to note the registration number they give you.
Print your application form and give it to your residence manager with the documents required, for him (her) to send them.
If you need help, our department secretary can help you after your arrival.
You’ll need a copy of your identity card or passport, an international bank statement (IBAN & BIC n°), a copy of your tax notice.
Transports
NANCY is a town of 105.000 inhabitants, located in the NE of France, very near from 3 European countries (Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany).

By train : Paris is 1h20 from Metz with the TGV, then you can reach Nancy by the local train (TER) .
Consult the railways site SNCF or TGV.
There’s also a regional airport, reachable by bus from the station.
Travelling in Nancy
The easiest way to travel in Nancy is by foot, bus or tram
The tickets can be bought at the tobacconist’s, or in the bus or the tram.
If you want to take out a subscription you’ll have to go to the. Point Accueil STAN, Place de la République, quartier gare. Visit the site : http://www.reseau-stan.com/
University canteens
There is a university canteen in the IRTS, where you can have lunch, with your canteen card called “carte clé”. To get one you’ll need your student card or a paper from the IRTS. Minimum recharging 10,- €. (Meal from 2,75 €).

Health
insurance
European students in possession of a European Health Insurance card or equivalent document will have access to health care and have their medical expenses undertaken.
So don’t forget to take it. More information >>>
Students who don’t have complete health coverage in their Home country or are not EU citizens need to take an insurance policy.
Service Inter Universitaire de Medecine préventive
On the campus, if you have a health problem, you can go to the SIUMPPS, the students’s medical service, where they will help you.
